Abstract

The main objective of this work is to formalize, through authors who report on the different cultural manifestations, the history of the camper dance, as well as the expression of the body language of “Mana-Chica do Caboio”. For the methodological development we will use as a strategy the literature review through theoretical references for an approach in the concept of culture, with the purpose of promoting the registration and the valorization of this dance as a cultural manifestation of the North Fluminense region, which arose in the Caboio region, in the municipality of Campos dos Goytacazes - RJ. The Mana-Chica do Caboio was supposedly invented by a “dançadeira” and “amiga da folia” lady who could be one of the “Franciscas”. For this, we present its interface to its main musical elements: the portuguese guitar, the indigenous rattle and the african tambourine. In this sense, through dance and music, we manifest the story of a certain time, portrayed by the life of the people of the interior, as well as their bodily characteristics, especially represented through the Mana-Chica do Caboio.
