The objective of the present study is to investigate the possible causes of low vaccination coverage. The methodology used to carry out the study was bibliographical research that aims to investigate materials relevant to the field of study. The proposed referential concepts were Vaccine, Vaccination Coverage, Neglect, Strategy and Vaccination. This research highlights the importance of vaccination to prevent the reappearance of vaccine-preventable diseases that were controlled or eradicated. For vaccination coverage rates to increase again, the causes need to be identified. Therefore, the present work analyzed and described that even with the good results achieved by the National Immunization Program (PNI) in recent years, vaccination coverage has shown a constant decline due to neglect of vaccination. In order for vaccination coverage rates to increase again, some strategies need to be applied.
