This experience report details a pedagogical activity focused on teaching the concepts of Ratio and Proportion. The proposal involved the use of two measurements in centimeters, established by the student, for the creation of geometric figures of various sizes on any sheet of paper. The activity "Construction of Geometric Figures" was developed in the second-year class of the Mathematics Teaching degree at Unespar – Paranavaí Campus, with 5 students present on that day. The aim was to challenge the students to improve their understanding of the concept of ratio and the concept of proportion; through this approach, they were able to explore and apply the basic knowledge they already had about ratio and proportion in a practical way. The experience demonstrated that actively engaging with a concept can be a powerful tool to enhance students' understanding of complex mathematical concepts.
