Mathematical Inquiry is a pedagogical approach that proposes learning through problem solving. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be a valuable tool for Mathematical Inquiry, as it can help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The aim of this article is to present the results of an experimental activity to teach Statistics using AI, in a 1st year secondary school class in Business Administration. The methodological strategy used was Mathematical Investigation, in which the students were challenged to prepare questionnaires on a research topic chosen by them. To do this, they used BARD, a Google AI tool, to help them draft the questions. The results of the survey showed that the students found BARD to be a useful resource for designing questionnaires for teaching Statistics, especially with regard to generating ideas for research topics and writing clear and objective questions. In addition, the students reported that using BARD was a positive experience, as it helped them learn more about statistics and develop mathematical research skills. Therefore, given all the above, it can be concluded that the use of AI can be a valuable tool for teaching Statistics from the perspective of mathematical investigation. However, it is important to emphasize that the use of AI should not replace the role of the teacher. The teacher must continue to guide the students in the learning process, providing feedback and supporting them in solving problems.
