This work aims to analyze the participation of Emperor Constantine in the development of the Christian church and how its influence had repercussions on the later expansion of the Church. In this paper, we use the methodology of bibliographic research. Constantine I was Roman emperor from the year 306 to the year 337. His politico-religious strategies led to an end to persecution of Christians and favoring Christianity. Among his contributions to Christianity are the Edict of Milan and the convocation of the Council of Nicaea. In analyzing the history of Christianity under the influence of Constantine it is perceived that this provided positive and negative changes to the church, which reverberated after his death. It is thus concluded that Emperor Constantine contributed favorably to Christianity to put an end to the persecution of Christians and to affirm Christianity as a legalized religion, giving conditions for its expansion throughout the world, but on the other hand, it contributed negatively by interfering in matters religious and provide a path for the apostasy of the Christian faith.
