Informational behavior of the decision agent in choosing the course of higher course at the Faculty of Paraíso do Norte – PR

Abstract

With the development of technologies, the current political and economic scenario has changed, as have the alternatives of higher education, such as distance learning. Despite this, in the northwestern region of Paraná it was observed that many students choose to move to a more distant city from where they live to study, which led to the following question: Why do these students move to another city to study? The choice made by students of the Brazilian Union of Colleges - UniBF, from Paraíso do Norte, in the state of Paraná, to pursue higher education in a city of approximately 11,781 inhabitants according to IBGE data in 2010 drew attention and in this In this sense, it was sought through this study, to understand the behavior of these students in making this decision. The research aimed to understand the search and use of information by these students for decision making based on the approaches of the Studies of Information Users. This is an exploratory study carried out through a survey, analyzed based on the literature in the area of Information Science.
