Abstract

Breastfeeding is an important practice that goes far beyond nourishing the child. In this context, the nurse is essential, considering that she accompanies the motherbaby binomial since prenatal care, during childbirth and puerperium care. The objective of this study is to highlight in the literature the importance of nursing care in promoting breastfeeding, identifying the main contributions of nurses in this regard. This is an systematic review type study, where a literature review was carried out to survey material published on the Virtual Health Library (VHL) Portal. Six articles were inserted in the present study, published between the years 2017 to 2019. The main limitation during the conduct of this integrative review was the scarcity of articles from the defined parameters. However, from the analysis of the inserted studies, it became evident the importance of nurses in the context of care and health education.
