This article aims to analyze the role of the school principal in promoting quality education within the Brazilian context. It is a qualitative research study developed through a bibliographic review, based on authors such as Lück, Libâneo, and Paro. The study considers the principal’s function beyond the bureaucratic aspect, highlighting their role as a pedagogical leader and democratic manager. The methodology consisted of collecting and analyzing academic works that discuss school management, leadership, and educational public policies. The results indicate that the principal is a key figure in articulating the different segments of the school community, being able to directly impact learning outcomes, social inclusion, and citizenship education. It is concluded that valuing the principal — through continuing education, administrative autonomy, and institutional support — is essential for ensuring that their work effectively contributes to quality public education.
