Abstract

According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics - IBGE in 2019, Brazil had 34 million people over 60 years of age, with projections of doubling this number in the next 2 decades. Based on these data, it becomes extremely necessary to reflect on the factors that can make a healthy old age in the biopsychosocial spheres. "Being" elderly, retirement and old age come loaded with negative stigmas and stereotypes, due to their physical limitations, which can cause a process of depersonalization of the individual. The analysis of this project points out that confronting crystallizations is important, fostering and creating spaces for group living and health promotion is fundamental for the individual to re-signify this phase of life, to give meaning and new perspectives, in addition to the support of the family and community to promote a smooth transition with new alternatives and possibilities.
